About Me
My name is Victoria Kakueva and I’m an animal artist based in Montreal, Canada, with Slavic roots. I work in traditional media (mostly watercolor and acrylic) to create realistic, soulful portraits of animals and wildlife. My greatest inspiration comes from the beauty of nature, the diversity of the animal world, and the quiet, powerful stories they tell.
I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. As a child, sketchbooks were my constant companions, filled with doodles of different animals. Recognizing my passion early on, my parents enrolled me in art school, where I studied for eight years. Later, I moved to Canada and earned a Bachelor’s degree in 2D and 3D Animation —a choice I’ve never once regretted. While I ultimately chose fine art over animation, the storytelling and character design skills I developed led me to become the author and illustrator of a children’s picture book.
Today, I live and work in Montreal where I create and sell my original paintings and art prints. My work is available both online and in several stores and art galleries across Canada. Also, I’m always open to creating custom pieces, including pet portraits and commissioned wildlife art.
Through each brushstroke, I aim to share the awe I feel for the natural world — and to offer others a way to bring a piece of that wonder into their own homes.
